UP10TION’s Kim Woo Seok Dishes On His “Bulgasal” Character + Wanting To Surprise People With His Comeback Concept
In a recent interview and pictorial for Arena Homme Plus magazine, UP10TION’s Kim Woo Seok talked about his new drama “Bulgasal,” his hopes for his next comeback, and more!
“Bulgasal” is a new fantasy drama starring Lee Jin Wook as Dan Hwal, a bulgasal (a mythical creature that cannot die or age) who was once human centuries ago. Kwon Nara stars as Min Sang Woon, a woman who is repeatedly reincarnated while fleeing the bulgasal, but remembers all her past lives.
In “Bulgasal,” Kim Woo Seok plays the role of Nam Do Yoon, a teenager who follows the bulgasal around like a lost puppy. Instead of being intimidated by the immortal creature, he sees the bulgasal as an older brother.
Kim Woo Seok spoke enthusiastically about his experience on set, sharing, “I’ve learned so much from acting and filming together with the production crew and the other actors. I feel like I received a valuable lesson each and every shoot.”
As for his character Nam Do Yoon, the idol-turned-actor described him by saying, “He’s a pure, unsullied character. He’s a character who, if you paint him with red, turns red, and if you splatter him with black, transforms into something darker. He’s a boy who’s like a blank slate, and i think seeing how he gradually changes will be one of the joys of watching ‘Bulgasal.'”
Even amidst his blossoming acting career, Kim Woo Seok revealed that he is also currently preparing for his next album—and that he wants to make an unexpected transformation for his upcoming comeback.
“Because I’m still in the middle of working on it, I can’t tell you everything,” he said, “but for my next album, I want to interpret the concept of ‘desire’ in a new and different way that’s unique to my own vibe. I also want to create songs that might feel like a surprising twist after my previous albums.”
