Of all the places for Travis Kelce to catch a stray, the Devil Wears Prada 2 media tour could not have been high on the list.
Meryl Streep, however, surprised movie and football fans alike when she took a shot at the Kansas City Chiefs tight end while discussing the most difficult part about shooting the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 hit film.
“The hardest thing about shooting in Milan was walking in stilettos on the cobblestones,” said Streep, 76, in a video shared via X by 20th Century Studios on Saturday, April 25. “I’d like to see Travis Kelce do that.”
Kelce, 36, doesn’t have any known history with the legendary actress — or with wearing stilettos, as far as we are aware. While it’s possible Streep was referencing another part of the interview that did not make the final cut, fans shared their confusion in the replies.
“So are Anne and Meryl gonna be New Heights guests for the new movie promo or did Travis just catch a stray for no reason ?????” one fan asked. “@newheightshow @Brandon_Borders @jchat85 spill pls.”
Another speculated it could be related to something Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, said in her six-part Disney+ docuseries, Taylor Swift: The End of an Era.
“Taylor made a statement on how difficult it must be to learn all the different plays and all the physical work that Travis does, but that he doesn’t hafta do it in heels,” they wrote. “I think that was in the documentary.”
Though it’s unclear if Kelce will surface in stilettos anytime soon, we do know he will be lacing up his cleats again when Chiefs minicamp opens in early June. The future Hall of Famer considered retirement for the second year in a row, but ultimately decided to return to Kansas City after a disappointing 2025 season.

Kelce has made it no secret that he still has something to prove, which he brought up multiple times through the decision-making process.
“I feel like I have a lot of love for this game,” he said during a pregame interview on Christmas Day 2025. “If I came back it’d just be to answer that flame that I still love this thing. If it was just Sundays, I could play till I was 50. Obviously, there’s so much that goes into it. Arrowhead being Arrowhead, the atmosphere [and] playing in front of them, those will be memories that I cherish [when] I’m old and gray. … It’s special, man, and I love playing for them.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on Friday, May 1.
