General Hospital star Cameron Mathison is choosing to take dating slow after his divorce from Vanessa Mathison.
“In these almost three years of being single, I have been dating,” Cameron, 56, exclusively shared with Us Weekly while attending Jennie Garth and iHeartPodcasts’ “I Choose Me” live summit on Saturday, April 25. “The whole app world is new to me. It’s a new world.”
The soap opera star recalled the days when single men and women had to go out and connect with people in person. For Cameron, dating apps provided a whole new experience.
“I got to be honest, I got a little caught up in it, got a little busy, because I wasn’t used to having to meet people,” he shared with Us. “I was also trying to distract [myself] from a broken heart. … I met a lot of amazing people, one in particular that became, like, a more committed sort of situation, but at the same time, I hadn’t been ready for anything more serious.”
While Cameron said he’s been dating, he “stepped back big time” from the apps.
“It was a bit much for me,” he shared. “I need time to heal and do my thing.”
In July 2024, Cameron and Vanessa surprised fans when they announced their split after 22 years of marriage. At the time, the pair said they were entering a “new chapter with deep love, kindness and respect for each other.”
Before speaking on Garth’s “Man-El” Q&A with Ben Higgins, Val Chmerkovskiy and Tyler Merritt, which fans can watch online now, Cameron revealed to Us that he’s still in a good place with his estranged wife.
“It wasn’t my choice that our marriage ended, and it is what it is,” Cameron shared. “I love her. I care about her. I want her to be happy in this chapter. I have no place for anger and resentment. … I try to do whatever I can to be supportive of her, and I really feel that from her, too.”
According to Cameron, the two children he shares with Vanessa feel the friendly relationship between their mom and dad.

“My kids have talked to me about it,” he explained. “They’ve talked to me and just said how much they see what I do and how I’m just trying to keep a beautiful, loving family, even though it’s a different form of family. It’s important, and it feels good.”
When not spending time with family or working on a variety of projects, the cofounder of Health 360 is trying his best to follow three practices: gratitude, compassion and acceptance. He’s also more than happy to support close friends, like Garth, 54.
“I’ve been on her podcast, and I also try to spread goodness out there in the world,” he told Us. “I think it’s an amazing thing. … I love everything that she’s doing out there with ‘I Choose Me.’”
